Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
