Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread around. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
