The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
