The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 by the sky and how He built it 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 He does not fear the consequence. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
