The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 In response they belied him, and hamstrung the she camel so Allah put ruin over them because of their sins and flattened their dwellings. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Sun (Al-Shams). Sent down in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
