Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to humans, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
