The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a great day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
