Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 In the plain Arabic language. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 And this Qur'an was not brought down by the devils. 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
