Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
