The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
