Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
