The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
