The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 What time Shu'aib said unto them: fear ye not? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 And weigh with an even balance. 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
