The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We also gave them Our Signs, yet they turned away from them. 81 And they used to hew out dwellings from the hills, (wherein they dwelt) secure. 82 But the Shout seized them in the morning, 83 And what they earned did not avail them. 84 We have not created but with reason the heavens and the earth and all that lies within them. The Hour (of the great change) is certain to come. So turn away (from them) with a grace. 85 Your Lord is certainly the All-knowing Creator. 86 And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an. 87 [so] turn, not thine eyes [longingly] towards the worldly benefits which We have granted unto some of those [that deny the truth]. And neither grieve over those [who refuse to heed thee,] but spread the wings of thy tenderness over the believers, 88 And proclaim, “Indeed I, yes I, am the clear Herald of Warning.” 89 As We have sent down on the dividers, (Quraish pagans or Jews and Christians). 90 Who have made the Qur'an into portions. 91 By your Lord, We will question them all 92 As to what they did. 93 Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists. 94 We are surely sufficient to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 and those who set up other gods with Allah, indeed, they will soon know. 96 And assuredly We know that thou straitenest thy breast by that which they say. 97 Therefore proclaim the Purity of your Lord with praise, and be of those who prostrate. 98 and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee. 99
