The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night, when it envelops, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
