Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
KaafHaYa'aeenSaad. 1 [This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah 2 When he cried unto his Lord a cry in secret, 3 He said: My Lord! surely my bones are weakened and my head flares with hoariness, and, my Lord! I have never been unsuccessful in my prayer to Thee: 4 And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir 5 “He being my successor and the heir of the Descendants of Yaqub (Jacob); and my Lord, make him a cherished* one.” (* Make him a Prophet among the Descendants of Israel.) 6 'O Zachariah, We give thee good tidings of a boy, whose name is John. No namesake have We given him aforetime.' 7 He said: My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached infirm old age? 8 Answered [the angel]: "Thus it is; [but] thy Sustainer says, 'This is easy for Me - even as I have created thee aforetime out of nothing'". 9 He said: My Lord! give me a sign. He said: Your sign is that you will not be able to speak to the people three nights while in sound health. 10 Thereupon he came out of the sanctuary unto his people and signified to them [by gestures]: "Extol His limitless glory by day and by night!" 11 [Allah] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy 12 and We also endowed him with tenderness and purity, and he was exceedingly pious 13 And kind to his parents, and he was not overbearing or rebellious. 14 So peace on him the day he was born, the day he will die, and the day that he will be raised from the dead. 15
