Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
