The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
