The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
