The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
