He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 lofty and pure, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
