The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
