The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
