The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
