Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 On that day, the station is only towards your Lord. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
