Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 a warning to humans, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 About the criminals, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
