Have you seen the one who turned away 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
