When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
