He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
