The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And pollution shun. 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 He looked (at others); 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
