'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
