When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
