Al-Maa 'edah 11 of 16
Cursed were those who disbelieved from among the Children of Isra'il by the tongue of Daud and 'Isa, son of Maryam. That is because they disobeyed and were ever transgressing. 78 They restrained not one another from the wickedness they did. Verily evil was that they used to do! 79 You will see many of them befriending those who disbelieve; certainly evil is that which their souls have sent before for them, that Allah became displeased with them and in chastisement shall they abide. 80 And if they had believed in Allah and the Prophet and in what was revealed to him, they would not have taken them as allies; but many of them are defiantly disobedient. 81 ۞ Thou wilt find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who believe (to be) the Jews and the idolaters. And thou wilt find the nearest of them in affection to those who believe (to be) those who say: Lo! We are Christians. That is because there are among them priests and monks, and because they are not proud. 82 When they listen to that which was sent down to the Messenger, you will see their eyes fill with tears as they recognize its truth. They say: 'Lord, we believe. Write us among the witnesses. 83 Why should we not believe in God and the truth that has come to us, and be eager that our Lord should admit us with the righteous people?' 84 And for this their belief God will reward them with gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide: for such is the requital of the doers of good; 85 But those who deny the truth and deny Our signs will become the inmates of Hell. 86
