۞ NOW WHENEVER [the nature of] the son of Mary is set forth as an example, [O Muhammad,] lo! thy people raise an outcry on this score, 57 "Are our gods any better than Jesus (for according to Muhammad), if our gods go to hell so too will Jesus. What they say is only a false argument. In fact, they are a quarrelsome people. 58 He was no more than a servant: We granted Our favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 Verily he (i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way. 61 And let not the Satan hinder you; verily he is unto you an enemy manifest. 62 And when Isa came with evidences, he said: of a surety I have come unto you with wisdom, and to expound unto you some of that wherein ye differ; so fear Allah and obey me. 63 "For Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship ye Him: this is a Straight Way." 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 ARE THEY [who are lost in sin] but waiting for the Last Hour - [waiting] that it come upon them of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]? 66 Friends on that day will be foes, one to another,- except the Righteous. 67
