The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star - 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Comet (Al-Taareq). Sent down in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
