Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
