The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
