۞ And unto (the tribe of) A'ad (We sent) their brother, Hud. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)? 65 The chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said: Most surely we see you in folly, and most surely we think you to be of the liars. 66 He said, "My people, I am by no means a fool, but rather am a messenger from the Lord of the Universe, 67 “I convey to you the messages of my Lord and am your trustworthy well-wisher.” 68 Do you wonder that an exhortation should come to you from your Lord through a man from amongst yourselves that he may warn you? And do call to mind when He made you successors after the people of Noah and amply increased you in stature. Remember then the wondrous bounties of Allah, that you may prosper.' 69 They said: "You have come to us that we should worship Allah Alone and forsake that which our fathers used to worship. So bring us that wherewith you have threatened us if you are of the truthful." 70 He replied: "You have already been beset with punishment and the wrath of God. Why dispute with me about names invented by you and your ancestors for which no sanction was sent down? So wait (for what is to come), I am waiting with you." 71 And We saved him and those with him by a mercy from Us, and We cut the root of those who denied Our revelations and were not believers. 72
