And to Thamood their brother Salih; he said, 'O my people, serve God! You have no god other than He; there has now come to you a clear sign from your Lord -- this is the She-camel of God, to be a sign for you. Leave her that she may eat in God's earth, and do not touch her with evil, lest you be seized by a painful chastisement. 73 And remember when He made you successors after the 'Aad and settled you in the land, [and] you take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve from the mountains, homes. Then remember the favors of Allah and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption." 74 The leaders of the arrogant party among his people said to those who were reckoned powerless - those among them who believed: "know ye indeed that Salih is a messenger from his Lord?" They said: "We do indeed believe in the revelation which hath been sent through him." 75 The proud oppressors said, "We reject that which you believe in". 76 They then slew the camel and rebelled against the orders of their Lord saying, " Salih, if you are truly a Messenger, let that torment with which you have threatened us come to pass." 77 Whereupon an earthquake seized them, so that they lay prone in their dwellings. 78 He left them, saying, "My people, I delivered my Lord's messages to you and counselled you sincerely, but you do not like sincere advisors." 79 And We sent Lut, when he said unto his people: commit ye an indecency wherewith none hath preceded you in the worlds? 80 Verily, with lust you approach men instead of women: nay, but you are people given to excesses!" 81 And the answer of his people was no other than that they said: Turn them out of your town, surely they are a people who seek to purify (themselves). 82 So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained [with the evildoers]. 83 and We rained down upon them a rain. So look how was the end of the evildoers. 84
