Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24

We have sent no Prophet to any city but that We seized its people with misery and hardship, that haply they might be humble; 94 Then We changed their suffering into prosperity, until they grew and multiplied, and began to say: "Our fathers (too) were touched by suffering and affluence"... Behold! We called them to account of a sudden, while they realised not (their peril). 95 Had the people of the villages believed and been cautious, We would have opened upon them the blessings from heaven and earth. But they belied, and We seized them for what they earned. 96 Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep? 97 What! do the people of the towns feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they play? 98 Do they feel secure against the design of Allah None can feel secure against the design of Allah except the utter losers. 99
