Al-A 'araaf 13 of 24
Has it not become clear to those who inherited the earth after its [previous] people that if We willed, We could afflict them for their sins? But We seal over their hearts so they do not hear. 100 These towns-- We relate to you some of their stories, and certainly their apostles came to them with clear arguments, but they would not believe in what they rejected at first; thus does Allah set a seal over the hearts of the unbelievers 101 Most of them We found not men (true) to their covenant: but most of them We found rebellious and disobedient. 102 AND AFTER those [early people] We sent Moses with Our messages unto Pharaoh and his great ones, and they wilfully rejected them: and behold what happened in the end to those spreaders of corruption! 103 And Moses said: 'O Pharaoh! I am a Messenger from the Lord of the universe. 104 "Proper it is for me that I say nothing concerning Allah but the truth. Indeed I have come unto you from your Lord with a clear proof. So let the Children of Israel depart along with me." 105 He answered: 'If you have come with a sign, show it to us if you are of the truthful' 106 Then he flung down his staff and lo! it was a serpent manifest; 107 Then he drew out his hand and it was luminous to the onlookers. 108
