Is it not clear to those who inherit the earth in succession from its (previous) possessors, that had We willed, We would have punished them for their sins. And We seal up their hearts so that they hear not? 100 We have told you the stories of those towns: their messengers came to them with clear signs, but they were never going to believe in something they had already rejected. Thus God seals up the hearts of those who deny the truth. 101 We did not find most of them true to their covenants; indeed We found most of them to be transgressors. 102 Then after them We sent Musa (Moses) with Our Signs to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they wrongfully rejected them. So see how was the end of the Mufsidun (mischief-makers, corrupts, etc.). 103 Moses said: 'Pharaoh, I am a Messenger from the Lord of the Worlds, 104 duty-bound to say nothing about God but the truth, and I have brought you a clear sign from your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with me." 105 He said: if thou hast brought a sign, forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 106 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it turned into a real serpent. 107 And putting his hand in his bosom, withdrew it – so it shone brightly before the beholders. 108
