The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We inspired Moses, saying, "Throw down your staff." And it immediately swallowed up their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you shall come to know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: 125 "The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)." 126
