And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
