So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
