When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
