The day We shall call a witness from every people, the unbelievers will not be allowed to make excuses. 84 And when the wicked shall face the torment it will not be decreased, nor will they be reprieved. 85 When those who gave partners to Allah will see their "partners", they will say: "Our Lord! these are our 'partners,' those whom we used to invoke besides Thee." But they will throw back their word at them (and say): "Indeed ye are liars!" 86 And on that Day will they [who had thus been sinning, belatedly] proffer their surrender to God; and all their false imagery will have forsaken them. 87 Those who disbelieved and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, for them We will add torment over the torment; because they used to spread corruption [by disobeying Allah themselves, as well as ordering others (mankind) to do so]. 88 And beware a Day whereon We shall raise up in every community a witness regarding them from amongst themselves, and We shall bring thee as a witness regarding these. And We have revealed unto thee the Book as an exposition of everything and as a guidance and mercy and glad tidings to the Muslims. 89
