And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin. 31 And go not nigh to fornication; surely it is an indecency and an evil way. 32 Do not take life which God has made inviolate -- except by right. If anyone is killed wrongfully, We have given authority to his heirs to demand retribution, but let them not transgress the prescribed limits in exacting retribution; for then he will be assisted [by the law]. 33 And do not approach the property of the orphan save in the fairest manner, until he is of age. And fulfil the covenant; surely the covenant shall be questioned of. 34 And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even balance. That is the best [way] and best in result. 35 (xiii) Do not follow that of which you have no knowledge. Surely the hearing, the sight, the heart - each of these shall be called to account. 36 And do not walk haughtily on the earth; you can never split the earth, nor be as high as the hills. 37 The wickedness of each of that is hateful to your Lord. 38 This is of what your Lord has revealed to you of wisdom, and do not associate any other god with Allah lest you should be thrown into hell, blamed, cast away. 39 Has then your Lord (O pagans of Makkah) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself from among the angels daughters. Verily! You utter an awful saying, indeed. 40
