The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
All praise is to Allah Who sent down the Book upon His bondman, and has not kept any deviation in it. 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 And that it may warn those who say: God hath taken a son. 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood! 5 Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation? 6 Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e. those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allah's sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet SAW]. 7 We will surely reduce all that is on it to barren dust. 8 Deemest thou that the people of the cave and the inscription were of Our signs a wonder? 9 When the young men took refuge in the Cave – then said, “Our Lord! Give us mercy from Yourself, and arrange guidance for us in our affair.” 10 Then We draw (a veil) over their ears, for a number of years, in the Cave, (so that they heard not): 11 Then We roused them, in order to test which of the two parties was best at calculating the term of years they had tarried! 12
