The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
